How to: Brief your designer

So you are ready to get branding and start upping your business game!

Here are some useful ways that you can communicate with your designer so that you are both on the same page throughout your project journey.

SET OUT PROJECT DETAILS

• Give your designer as much detail as you can about what you require from the very beginning

• Be contactable, share your contact details and communicate during working hours

• Discuss the timeframe and seek advice on how to launch your project on time.

• Give your designer a summary of your brand story, tell them about how you started, where you currently are, and what you hope for the future of your brand.

• Give a summary of the main objective of your project and what you hope to achieve

GET CLEAR ON YOUR BRAND DETAILS

• Share your tagline and mission statement

• Share your target audience and how you would like to appeal to them

• Create a Pinterest board or mood board with your inspiration

• Don't get fixated on your inspiration from other brands. Be open-minded and allow the designer to get creative and create something unique to you.

• Share any existing assets or resources

OUTLINE YOUR REQUIREMENTS FROM THE START

• Get clear on what you need from the designer, tell them early on

• Have a budget ready

• Tell them if you are unsure about what you need and them advise you

• Communicate what files you think you will need to be delivered by the end of the project
